| Apple Pie
6 cups sliced peeled baking apples (5 to 6 medium)
1 Tablespoons water
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
3 Tablespoons flour
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 T. butter
Pastry for double crust pie (9 inches)
Combine sugars, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger and salt:
Add apples and toss to coat.
Place bottom pastry in pie plate, add apple mixture.
Top with 1 T. butter cut in chunks.
Cover with top pastry, seal and flute edges.
Sprinkle a little sugar over top.
Bake in a preheated 450 degrees oven for 10 minutes.
Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake 35-45 minutes longer or until
golden brown.
