Ice Cream Soda Ornaments
I suggest you read the instructions
before
attempting.
Please note the hints I
have listed at the end.
You will need:
1/4 inch pompoms (brown)
1/4 inch pompoms (pink)
1/2 inch pompoms (white)
twizzler sticks (mixing
sticks, I use red flat sticks)
gold string (thin cord)
small communion clear cups
(1 1/2 inch high, fluted tops)
any glue that dries clear
First, cut a piece
of the twizzler stick
the height of the cup +
3/4 inch
and cut a piece of string
to be used as the hanger
(must be glued inside the
cup, so make it long enough to loop)
Dip the twizzler stick into
the glue
Glue the ends of the string
to one side of this stick
(making a loop)
And place that side (with
the string) on the inside of the cup
Let this dry for a bit,
depending on the amount of glue you have used
Next, Put a brown pompom
inside the cup on the bottom
Second, Place a pink pompom
on top of the brown one
Now dip the white pompom
into the glue (about 1/2 the ball)
Place the larger, white
pompom on the top
and push down into cup about
1/2 way
this pompom will have a
tendency to "puff" out around the top of the cup
let dry and it is ready
to hang on your tree!
HINTS:
I made these in quantity,
So I glued all the sticks
and strings
inside the cups and let
them dry over night.
Also, when dipping the white
ball into the glue,
it does not have to be "dripping"
with glue.
I put glue into a bowl and
just "rubbed" the white ball
on the edge of the bowl
to get it damp.
After you have the pompoms
in place,
you can use another twizzler
stick to situate
the pink and brown pompoms
into the cup evenly.
The white communion cups
can be found at paper supply stores or craft suppliers.
These are a wonderful, simple
craft for kids
and look great on the tree!
